ONS 2010 Innovation Award

ONS 2010 is one of the world's leading Oil and Energy industry events. It will be held in Norway in Stavanger from 24-27 August 2010. During the 35 years that it has been held in the Norwegian city of Stavanger, ONS has become one of the key events bringing major industry movers and shakers together. From its earlier focus on offshore technology and the Norwegian continental shelf, the expo has now become a meeting place for the global energy industry. Through the prestigious ONS Innovation Awards the crucial importance of cutting-edge products and solutions are recognised. The innovation awards reflect ONS long-standing commitment to presenting and promoting innovative ideas.

FibreMax has been nominated for the SME Innovation Award. The SME Innovation Award ensures that companies of all sizes are given the chance to highlight their new developments. FibreMax has been nominated for its Endless Winding Technology being a unique and state-of-the-art production method for lightweight mooring cables for offshore facilities such as Semis, Spars and TLPs. Cables are produced using an "Endless Winding Technology" (EWT), radically different from traditional polyester rope manufacture. EWT enables the entire cable, complete with integrated end terminations, to be produced in one process. End terminations are incorporated automatically, whereas in traditional polyester rope manufacture these are mounted subsequently by splicing. EWT eliminates the risks inherent in splicing, and also saves time, money and weight. Parallel construction of the cable prevents construction stretch, thus making mooring installations more cost-effective.
