aramid cable

FibreMax aramid cables are made with Twaron®, which is a very strong fibre developed and produced exclusively by Teijin Aramid. It has a high modulus, is thermally stable, highly impact and chemical resistant.

The unique properties of Twaron® fibres used in FibreMax Aramid cables give these cables a number of significant advantages over steel-wire ropes, polyester or nylon ropes. When compared at the same MBL, FibreMax Aramid cables offer smaller diameters and less weight, resulting in major advantages in terms of easier handling, increasing safety, faster operations and downsizing of constructions.

Aramid fibres are a class of heatresistent and strong synthetic fibres. The name is a shortened form of "aromatic polyamide". They are fibres in which the chain molecules are highly oriented along the fibre axis, so the strength of the chemical can be exploited. The Federal Trade Commission's definition for aramid fibre: a manufactured high-modulus fibre in which the fibre-forming substance is a long-chain synthetic aromatic polyamide in which at least 85% of the amide linkages are attached directly to aromatic rings. Aramid is also known by its trade names Kevlar® or Twaron®.
