Aramid fibre

FibreMax aramid cables are made with Twaron®, which is a very strong aramid fibre developed and produced exclusively by Teijin aramid. These aramid fibres are thermally stable, chemical resistant and have a high modulus and high impact.

Aramid fibre cables can be used in a wide range of applications, for example

  • Deep sea mooring.
  • Offshore and marine applications.
  • Heavy lifting.
  • Bridge stay cables.
  • Guyed towers and antennas.

The name aramid fibres is the shortened form of  “aromatic polamide”. Withing these aramid fibres the chain molecules are highly oriented along the fibre axis wich makes it possible to exploit the strength of the chemical bond.

The unique properties of Twaron® aramid  fibres used in FibreMax Aramid cables give these cables a number of significant advantages over steel-wire ropes, polyester or nylon ropes. When compared at the same MBL, FibreMax cables made of aramid fibres  offer smaller diameters and less weight, resulting in major advantages in terms of easier handling, increasing safety, faster operations and downsizing of constructions.
